door wont open

ok, so the door handles inside and out work, the bars are moving the latch
However the latch wont release
I have tried using a screw driver to phisically move the latch mechanism but all to no avail
Im certain U need a new latch mechanism $60 from summit
Problem is how do I get the door open?
Do I have to pull the fender then the hinges?

how do you know that they are definitely moving the latch? I guess your best chance it to spray some penetrating lube in there and hope that it frees up the latch to get it open

 

because the door pannel is off and I can see it
all linkage is working fine
the door latch just isnt releasing from the striker
It a safety precaution from GM

But that doesn't help me get the door open to replace the latch

 

oh, if you have the door panel off, just go to the nearest bodyshop and I bet they'll pop it openfor you for free. that will make it easier. just make sure you disconnect all the rods inside first to release any added stress on the latch
