Just curious about how much boost the bottom end could hold on a stock short block 350. I know mine is a 355 and I'm pretty sure that the bottom end is a I-beam setup with cast crank. I had a friend rebuild it about 7 years ago but this was when I was just getting into learning about engines, plus the fact that I can no longer get in touch with the guy. The entire bottom end was new since it had spun a bearing and the crank was screwed as well as the rods. Only reason I was asking was because I was toolin around on the net last night and was thinking about whenever I get to doing the rest of what I want to do to the engine I was thinking about puttin a p1sc with about 10 psi of boost. Of course this isn't going to happen anytime soon since I have the interior and suspension to worry about, but I was bored and looking around at it all and it got me to thinking about this.

I think 10psi would be reaching max with an unknown engine build. If I was doing this I'd pull the pan and see for sure what I really had first. In absence of doing a check, I wouldn't go over 7 lbs. boost myself.

2bolt/4bolt/splayed?
Pistons and compression ratio?
Heads and cam? Valvetrain?
You need to know what your motor is flowing now, and how much power its making. 10psi on a 200hp motor and 10psi on a 300hp motor are going to behave completely different.
I submit its a bad idea. If its a mild street engine, you're going to be pushing the limits of the stock bottom end, if not far exceeding them

And it is a 4 bolt main with ported double humps, full exhaust, harland sharp rollers, eddy torker 2 and a 650 holley that would have to be swapped for a larger unit whenever this came to pass. Cam would be done as well with the cam. But like I said this would be done after I get my suspension and interior done.
