Default Big surprise Sunday!

I was getting ready to go pick up my car from the Roadster Show Sunday when my wife came in the house unable to speak, and mumbling something about "your canvas blew away"???? I tyried to get her to make sense, but she finally just grabbed my hand and drug me outside and towards the backyard.
Once I turned the corner I saw what she was so aggitated about! The canopy that I set up in the backyard, where I built and store the Austin in was totally gone! When I got near the backyard I looked to the West and saw the 10'x20' canopy was sitting upside down in the neighbor's backyard!
After a quick examination it appeared there was no frame or cover damage; the wind simply pulled the stakes out of the ground and tossed it over the fence! The neighbor and I removed the perimeter walls and then rolled it onto it's legs straddling the 4.5' wooden fence between our yards. Then we rolled it over on it's side in my yard and stood it back up in place.
Once it was standing I worked it back in place and reinstalled the sides. Then had to make a bunch of longer stakes, and stake it back down. From what I can tell it was a little gusty, but it most likely filled the empty canopy with a gust of wind and picked it up.
Sure was a big surprise, and I.ve added a lot of weight to the legs, plus long stakes, so it shouldn't ever happen again. But if it gets really windy I'll sure be watching it!

My brother uses those screw things that you would hook your dog to, and then uses a ratchet strap to hold his awning down on his RV, that may be a good idea if you hadn't thought of it.

Yeah I thought about one of those on each corner too. I might build some by getting the rod and heating and bending it around a piece of 1.5" pipe.

Well if they're under $10 ea. I guess I'll buy them. I figured they were way more. That cheap takes the fun out of building them!

Well I've done a bit of blacksmithing with metal and a oxy-acetylene setup, and never tried grabbing hot metal with my hands. I either use tongs, or enough extra metal to hold the excess with gloves and heat the rest while bending.

I've seen guys use five gallon buckets with cement about half way up. Should be easy for you Vall, is it hard to get Portland cement there? Ha!

At least it only made it one yard over, those things are pretty pricey. The way my luck goes it would have kept going and i would never find it haha. But yeah those twisty dog chain anchors are really inexpensive,if there is a walmart close to you, like mentioned they are around $3-$4,if there is a family dollar, dollar general, etc. they are only like $2 at those places.
