antifreez???
 

so today when i went to pick up my girlfriend my car didn't feel like starting after a few tries it did but it made a scary noise like something cracked or something... but after the start it was fine... 2 mins after it started it over heated like crazy it was up to 230 or something so i parked it and told her to get out.... anyways i checked the radiator and there was no antifreez, i just added distiled water but.... it took almost 3/4 of a gallon before it filled... how can i lose soo much antifreez? do you think it is related to the noise or waht could it be?

Did it have plenty of antifreeze in it before? could it have frozen?
Maybe the waterpump just went tits up,start it up and look for coolant dripping from the bottom of the pump,make sure the fan isn't flipping around first from a wasted bearing.
No leaks and a full radiator,still overheating? maybe a stuck thermostat.
Let it cool down then pop the cap and look to see if water is circulating back to the radiator when it's running,there should be visible flow.
