just a quick question, my z28 currently has a tan dash and i was wondering if it's possible to paint or dye it black. i don't want it half-*** so i'd buy one if i had to but can i make my tan one look like something decent?

I sprayed some of my interior parts when I converted my Camaro from green interior to black. That was 30 years ago, and the dye held up well. I found the hard plastic panels are the most likely to flake off, but dash pad, and soft parts stayed great. I didn't do my seats, as I was afraid they'd wear off. Instead I had the seats recovered. At the time 2nd gens were a dime a dozen in wrecking yards, so I stripped all the hard panels, and a bunch of trim form a 73 Camaro, and gave $20 for everything. Saved me dying some of it.

Here is my take. SEM Landau Black covered with SEM low gloss clear. I can't tell the difference in person. The other colors are a dice roll but the tan seems to be top notch too. HOW TO: Redye your interior - YouTube
The key is proper prep. I use acetone or alcohol after a good cleaning with Dawn. Then use adhesion promoter before spraying. I did this with Rustoleme on my T/A before I sold it. I hadn't installed the panels yet but the guy who bought it insisted they go with the car.
