Exclamation 76 camaro 383 stroker still havin starter problems!

Ok ive put 4 starters in my camaro one was a gear reduction and the other three were OEM chevy 350 starters. the bellhousing keeps cracking and snapping off because the OEM ones are made of light aluminum whereas my gear reduction one was made of steel, that one was fried or else it would still be in the car. im gettin pretty sick ive spent about 350 bucks on new starters and idk why they keep breaking. they are properly shimmed as well. the flywheel on my car is in pretty roug shape tho, mising a few teeth and others are worn down. im assuming only this could be the problem but im not sure...any ideas???

Yes that would be the problem. When your starter hits the spot with a few teeth missing it probably spins free and then grabs breaking the nose.

350 for four starters isn't bad really. I got a mini starter off ebay for about $65. I have a good flywheel and haven't had an issues. Mine also has an aluminum cone. Is is a stick? You can get a new ring put on for cheap if it is. A flex plate that is SFI approved is not that much either. Like it was said I would start there. Not sure why you would keep putting new starters on an old chewed up flywheel.
