Default 75 camaro or 80 Camaro Z28?????

Hey everybody I am new to the forum. I am deciding between a 75 camaro or a 80 Z28. Now I have not seen either car in person. So that is my next step but wanted to get an opinion for people on the forum. The 75 camaro has a 350 motor 3-speed auto trans that has just been rebuilt. The car from the pics seem to be in pretty good shape the guy said the car runs great and the paint is in good shape with a few small bubbles. He did say that it needed some interior work. He is asking $3,500 for the car.

The 80 Z28 is going to need a little more work. The guy was asking $3,000 for it but I made him an offer of $1,400 and he said he would take it. He said the motor runs but needs some work. So I sent him another email to clarify about what needs to be done. Look like from the pics the car will also need a paint job. Neither car has A/C which I will most likely add later on.

I know that a lot depends on the condition of the car and that will ultimately made a lot of the decision when you see them in person. But is one camaro maybe more valuable than the other or maybe I should put it is one more rare than the other? Maybe things like would one make a better everyday driver than the other or they pretty much the same? Any input would be appreciated.

75-77 are considered by many as the bottom of the food chain for second gens. None Z28's 74 & up don't bring much money either. If you want to redo everything on the car the 80 Z28 is the way to go it will be worth money when your done. If you just want a toy and you see working on it as a hassle go check out the 75. Just my opinion.

I would have to agree with Gorn. I have never been a big fan of the 2nd gen metal bumpered cars but I have owned one. If I were in your shoes I would go and look at both cars and see the differences in them for yourself. I like the dash better in the 79 to 81 Camaro's and they also have the scoop and fender vents.....It is really about how much work you are wanting to put into it and personal preference as to which style you like more.

Thanks for the reply's. I am waiting on an email from the guy that owns the 80 Z28. He did leave a phone number on his last email nut I want him to send some more pics of the car.

Does anyone know of a website that I can get 80's car value besides NADA. Kelly blue book used to give classic car prices but they don't anymore. I use this other one that rates car value 1-5 but that onlu do 79 and older.

Hey guys also on the 75 camaro it looks like it is the LT. That is what it says on back of the car and on a spot behind the doors. I looked up the value and it doesn't change the value a whole lot. Does anyone know what that means it the car is a LT? Maybe what the differences would be between the LT and just a non Lt for 75? Might be looking at the car tomorrow if he is going to be able to show.

NastyZ28.com has the values for all second generation Camaros (Z28, RS, LT, Etc) LT (Luxury Trim) is just a styling option like that of the RS or the Z28.

Ok, the 75 LT has a dent on the fender and look like some rust on the bottom. I attached a pic to help. What would you guys say you would pay for a car like this?

not to go off the subject but i have a 1981 Berlinetta and i wish it was a z28 but couldn't find one at the time..but im gonna really buff it up with my 383 that im getting this winter and i was thinking about adding a cowl hood and rear spoiler to make it into a z28 but i think i will just leave it alone..because you see alot of z28s but not many Berlinettas and according to nastyz28 the Berlinetta is the rarer of the camaros that year and it will be a sleeper

so my point is you can go with either one, its up to you but if you want to maybe get a less common car go with the LT and i dont know why the z28 is worth more when the Berlinetta and probably LT's are rarer..

it has more opps on it and more people liked them better.rare dosnt have a thing to do with it.demand does.if i have a mint say 77 t bird with 20,000 on it like new maybee i could get 5,000 to 7,000 for it but if you had a mint 78 z28 with the same miles and cond you could get 15,000 pluss for it.the t bird is moure rare, its is simpley demand
