Default 73 Camaro Stalls - please help

I recently purchased my first muscle car. So I am learning as I go. I have a 73 Camaro with a 350 Small block, auto. transmission. When I bought it the car was not street legal, it was being used as a drag racer, it has a Nos kit and a 4 barrel carburetor without a choke. I recently installed a new carburetor (holley street avenger series with electric choke), replaced all the spark plugs, and removed the Nos kit. I also replaced the electric fuel pump (holley blue series) and I have the fuel PSI at 6. The car starts and idles in park and neutral just fine. But when I put it into drive it stalls out even after the car has warmed up. It drives great at highway speed, but I have to put it in neutral or rev the engine while in drive when stopped. It also sometimes almost stalls when I try to pull out slowly from a stop (like at a traffic light).

Any advice on how to fix this?

First thing is to reduce the fuel pressure to around 4.5 lbs., as I think that's what Holley told me was optimum for their carbs. Next be sure your timing is correct, and idle speed is high enough. I would set idle speed at around 750rpm in neutral.
Check for any leaks if this doesn't cure it.

X2 on what BB427 suggested. Timing can give a rough & poor idle if it's retarded too far and a vacuum leak is a good possibility too.

The only other thing that comes to mind is that it was a drag race car when you got it. Maybe the cam is too big for a good idle and may stall when put in gear. If it lopes a lot at idle it may be a cam made for higher RPM power and has poor torque at low RPMs. Just an idea since it was a drag racer.

I would also check to see if your choke is adjusted correctly. Unfortunately I forgot how it should look when cold or when hot.

Should be closed when cold and open when hot.

Thanks guys. I have not had a chance to check any of your suggestions yet. But certainly will as soon as it warms up a bit here.
