68 Camaro 302 motor in my 69 vette
I just bought a 69 vette that was stored 29 years. I figured it would be best to change all the gaskets and seals in my 350/350 motor before trying to turn it over...... Well, I guess you know what I am about to say..... It is a VO312MO motor with a Vin stamp of 18N403270. Really wierd considering the guy I bought it from had it since 75, so between 69 and 75 it had been wrecked twice that he knows of (repair very nice too). But he knows nothing of the motor changed. He did say it ran like a raped ape though!. He baring knows how to change oil so he knew nothing about the motor size. The car it self is showing 58k miles.
Any way to locate the car it was once in, if it is still on the road?
Anyone know what it is worth if I was to sell it? The motor that is........

RE: 68 Camaro 302 motor in my 69 vette
The 302 was pretty hot engine in its day and was purposely underrated to 290HP by GM. Because of its small size it had to be revved sky high to make power, but worked very well with a set of fat gears such as 4:30 or 4:56. Put on a set of modern heads and a good solid lifter roller cam, and it will probably put out around 450 HP at 7500 RPM. As far as I know it was never put in a Corvette, but it should make a nice combination.

You should get the info on that motor to the guys at CRG, it is Camaro Research Group. They have an extensive database and alot of contacts. They may be able to help you with it. I guarantee that someone would love to have that motor back in their car
