Hello, I am new to the forum. I have owned a few later model Camaros 78, 84 and 94 but I am seriously considering the purchase of a 1967 convertible 327/210 w/powerglide white on red deluxe int. p/s, up graded p/assist/drum/b. 97K miles. The car is a one owner with documentation, POP, keys, dealer invoice etc. all looks to be correct one thing that puzzles me a little is that the partial vin is not stamped on the pad though the other numbers and suffixare there. Were the partial vin numbers sometimes absent from the engine pad in 1967? I am confident that this is indeed the original engine infact it does not look like the engine has ever been out of the car. I did check all numbers and date codes and all were correct. The car exterior was repainted 10 years ago still looks very good. The car is rust free it was always garaged. It will need a new top, new interior package, rebuild suspension (front and rear). The engine and trans have 97K on them but still run very good but will need to be cleaned and detailed body lines/gaps are also very good. All the sheet metal fenders, floors, trunk etc.are original and in excellent condition. Based on the info above do you think this would be a good investment? Is this a fair price?
Please any opinions would be appreciated.

No it is just a base model. I was also looking at interior at a couple of sites. Who are you using for yours? Did you just get your camaro? Is it a Base, RS or SS?

I've seen some convertibles sell for $15k - $20K w/ rusted quarters, bad interior, bad tops, straight 6 and column shift.If it runs and shifts good and the body is in good shape, that's nota bad deal. Interior's can be installed easily with a little time and patience.

that sounds like a pretty good deal - I do believe though it should have the vin stamped on the pad - if it doesn't then it's likely been decked(rebuilt) or could be a factory/dealer replacement engine of that period which would have the factory markings but not a vin. Be prepared though, if it is a higher mileage original/original eraengine - you will be looking at a complete rebuild in the near future.
