383 stroker for 69 Camaro
 

Could someone point me in the right direction???
Looking at a 383 LT1 stroker for a 1ST GEN Camaro project. I cant find any posts on the forum pertaining the info I need.
What am I getting into as far as ,what computer is needed to manage fuel, tranny etc?
Will it fit the engine bay??

If you go with a carb as sposed to EFI you shoudn't need any computers to speak of. It will certainly fit in the engine bay, a 383 is a 350 block bored .030 over with a 400 crank. So it will be the same size externally as a 350, which will fit no problem. What displacement does/did the original engine have, because you could always bore and stroke it.

Its a rolling chassis that I want to go with fuel injection instead of the carb.
If I remember correctly there was a 305 in it before.

Holley makes a multi port EFI unit that comes in a kit and includes everything you will need (manifold,wiring harness, injectors, ECU, etc) The Comander 950 or something, not sure of the model number. They make both multiport and TBI systems.
As long as the original block is in good condition you could bore and stroke it and then when you install the EFI you can actually tune it with a lap top PC. I am not sure if the stock injectors that come with the system would be enough to run the stroker but they should. You can always go to there website and/or give them a call and find out for sure before you order/buy it.
Then again if you want to go with a newer crate motor you can always do that. Just buy the long block without the accessories or manifold or anything and install the EFI system onto that. The later of the two being more expensive but will probably be a better bet for reliability. There are also motors that also come with everything including EFI and the computer and everything, but you will save alot of green building it yourself.

Can a 327 be stroked to 383?
