Hi people
Can anybody tell me where i can purchase a thermostatic air cleaner sensor which fits inside the air cleaner for a 1979 6 cyl engine

Are you referring to the air temp sensor with the two prongs on it? Rockauto.com has 2:
Standard Motor part #ATS5, or Echlin part #22226. Btw, Napa Auto Parts carries Echlin brand.

Yep thats the one had a look at rockauto and thats the one i'm after pity the postage is $60 and the part is only $5 ((

Agreed, i was reading an article earlier that the city was nearing its 100th homicide only after 4 months.
