Default 1972 Chev Camaro z28

Hi,

I am looking to buy my friends Camaro Z28 which is based on the VIN/COWL TAG.

It appears to be a USA made vehicle thus one can't authenticate it through GM like you could if it was a Canadian Car.

I'm in Canada, this car is in Canada. It hasn't been registered in Canada or insured ever. I have no idea how it came to Canada.

It's been here for like 15 years and essentially i'm buying it without the engine, transmission. For very cheap, enough to get my money back out if i can't insure/register it after it passes a safety inspection, etc etc etc etc.

All this being said, in an ideal world, if I could validate the VIN on dash with a build sheet, where would i find the build sheets?

The rear end may be original to the car, where would I find the date code for that or any info that helps identify it to the car?

What about the FRAME, any chance I could find a date code on that or matching VIN somewhere?

What about behind heater core, any numbers there, rad support?

Thanks everyone.

Welcome, Joe, to the Club.
Build sheets were placed under rear seat or between gas tank and trunk floor.
Van Nuys build I don't think kept the build sheet.
Stamped VIN's would be under the cowl panel and you might see them with flashlight looking through cowl panel and under the blower motor, engine side.
Removal of blower would be needed.
There is a date code stamp along with application code on pass axle tube, front of tube or top.
Date code always precedes Trim Tag date code.
No frame VIN.
But then, I'm no expert. Good luck.
