If it had a V6 in it then it more than likely has 2.54's or 2.73 in the rear. When you're doin 60 and punch it dose it take off like a raped ape?

If it's an anorexic gear issue then it definately will. Make sure you know for a fact what gears you actualy have. If you have anything higher than 3.08's(the lower the # the the higher the gear) definately consider a gear change. I have 3.08's in my 79 4 spd. Z28. and they drive great and give me decent gas mileage. I don't plan on changing from that until I get the five speed then I may goto 3.42's or back to the 3.73's I origionaly had.

if you get under the car on the passenger-side,on the front side of the axle-tube,use a wire brush and you should find the rearend id number.you can call chevrolet and they will tell you what you have(if the gears havent been changed)or if you have a haynes book ,they have all the numbers in the rearend section.you can also look on the ring gear and find what ratio you have

We always pull the cover. Read the number on the ring gear. sometimes the rear ends were not geared the way they were numbered. Always pull the cover.

Something that could help is getting the carb tuned, new spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, a transflush and rear diff flush. Clean off the carb butterfly.
