Craggar SS wheels, refinish or replace?

I'm curious if these wheels are worth restoring to original. As you can see they're Craggar SS 14". Standard on the front and wide on the rear. What would you recommend?

from the amount of rust I see, those are gonna be pitted pretty bad. sad to say but, probably better to replace them. best thing about it is Crager is still around and still building the wheel and they are availible basically all the way up to a 22". Not that I would EVER put a 22" wheel of any kind on a Camaro.

Getting the chrome stripped, the wheels cleaned up (which could be a chore with the amount of pitting they probably have), and then re-chromed, may cost more than buying new wheels.

Thanks for the information, and I think that's what I was wanting to hear. They are 14", and its so hard to find a decent tire in a 14 any more. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't throwing away an important part of our past.

Besides, any way to save money at this point, is a necessity.

Are those old tires bias ply? Yeah they just don't make the sizes that they used to in a 14" wheel.

Yes, they are bias, and manufacturing code designates 1977....

I've looked into it before. The center section of Cragar SS rims are aluminum, and the outer ring is steel. They cannot be chromed at one time, must be taken apart and done separately and then put back together. I could not source one place to do both. It is cheaper to get them repaired by a long shot.

I'm guessing you will be needing this site for new set of rims.

IMO. I would replace them. Who wants 14" wheels anymore??

Agreed! It's very hard to find a 14" tire anyway. I appreciate everyones suggestions.
