‘67 Pace Car rocker color
Guys, I’ve a ‘67 Indianapolis 500 small-block pace car (C-1 code). i know the big block cars had semi-gloss black painted rear panels, and the small block cars’ rear panels were all body color white. But what about the rocker panels. I’m told that they were semi-gloss black on all cars, regardless of the engine displacement. Can anyone clarify? Thanks, Tom in Indy 1967 Camaro Indy Pace Car 1969 Camaro Indy Pace Car |
I believe the rockers of the pace cars are semi gloss black like the back panels of the big block cars. You should check out the Camaro Pace Car site. The owners there are very knowledgeable about paint colors and other details pertaining to the 67 Camaro Pace Car.

I’ve known Tom at camaropacecars.com for some time, but I never found anything on that site that specifically dealt with black on the rockers. I appreciate the reply, Peter. |
I noticed you just joined the website at Camaro Pace Cars. I'm sure if you posted this question over there, Tom or others would be willing to help you with an answer. Check out this link for a discussion on the paints used on the 67 pacers. It mentions the rocker paint, but I don't believe it gives a paint color number. This is an excellent article for somebody wanting to know what paint colors to use when restoring a 67 pace car. Tom is a detail person, so I'm sure he will know.
