WTK value of 68 327 engine
 

I found a bunch of 68 camaro parts, and there is some stuff in there I really want. But here is the catch, he wants to sell everything all together in one package.

In there he has what I believe is a 68 Camaro 327 3 speed engine. It's pretty much just the complete block. It has a 4 barrel intake but it's 3837109, which I think dates to 1956. I do not know the number of the heads as the valve covers are still on it.

When I figure up the value of the other stuff, the price of the engine is about $300. The engine is not locked up and moves freely.

I don't want the block at all, and would sell it if I bought the whole lot.

But is a 68 Camaro 327 engine worth $300? Would it be easy to get rid of at that price?

The info on the engine is 3914678 on the rear of the engine. The front is marked 18NA406020 V0326MA.

I do not think it is going to be a easy sell. You have a engine of unknown condition. If it was bored out .030" in 1975 and has worn another .010" out of round it is not repairable (depending on the casting). Without proof that the motor is atleast rebuildable I don't see you getting a lot of money for.

With guys switching to more modern motors I have been seeing running driveable 327's selling for $500 and sometimes they wait for a buyer. Just the other day a saw a 69 350 4 bolt with double hump heads complete carb to pan and it said low miles can hear run $800. Back in the day that was the motor to have.

Now if you could match the motor to a car to that person the motor is worth a lot of money.

I'm going to talk to him tomorrow and see if I can get him to bring down the price some more before I can commit to it.

What do you guys think a fair price of a block like this is? Maybe $150?

The casting number come up as a 68 and could be a 302/327/350. You need some one to run the numbers on the front pad to find out what it came in. It could be a gold mine if its a Z/28 302 or you have a plain 327 or a better yet 350 block.

302 in 68 would have the DZ on the engine pad. Unless someone could prove the motor is fixable I would not give more then scrape or parts value. I have sent alot of blocks to the scrap yard because the cost of repair was more then even a new motor.

If it was a DZ motor it may be worth the gamble.

Being a 1968 block casting, the MA suffix code on the front pad tells it's a plain-Jane 327, 210 hp, 2 barrel engine.
If you can get it for $150, it's probably worth close to that in scrap value if it ends up being unusable/unbuildable.

I went over today and talked with him and told him it was sort of a gamble on the block. He agreed and lowered the price. So I bought it all.

So if anyone is local to Northwest Ohio and needs a 327. Let me know. :)
