Hi all
My 69 Camaro has a 6cyl auto on the column and I would like to change it to a newer fuel injected V8 with an over drive auto tranny on the floor.
My question is what should I be looking for as a donor car for this project?
My goal is to have a good reliable running car with decent fuel mileage not a big block tire shredder.

You don't have a V6 you have a I6.

A lot will depend on budget and you goal with HP and MPG. The most common swap these days is the LS1 but with your engine compartment you could do a LQ9 truck motor. Your going to need to do a tone of research or find a detailed swap thread and follow along.

 

Ya I tried to edit the V6 thing after I posted the thread but it wouldn't work, The LS1 swap would be ok I'm not fussy on the hp numbers because anything is more than what I have now. The club I belong to goes for a 7 - 10 day tour every year so I'm looking for something that runs good, reliable and some thing better on gas than a big block.
I guess I need to find a thread that has a step by step swap
