Port Intake or Swap?

I need y'alls opinion if I can. I currently have a Victor 454R intake for my 496 BBC. I got a good deal from a friend on a Sniper Jr. intake he is willing to sell me for $350. I have been debating whether to have my current intake ported out (which will be about $450-$500) or to buy the Sniper intake in which he said he will even do me a free port match with it. Plus selling my intake for $200 and only paying $150 after the dust settles. The 496 is for strip use (some street, getting to the track and back as well as an occasional weekend cruise). I have AFR 325's, cam is a .636/.636 with a 264 @ .50" (probably swap out down the road), and a QFX 1050 carb. Also has 10.5:1 compression. What would you guys do if you were in my situation? Thanks.

The Sniper, in my opinion would be too much intake for your current combo. That's a big intake and flows a lot of air and from what I understand, it needs a lot of high RPM's to make it work properly.

I'd stick with your current intake, those Victor R's are very good intakes for motors under 500ci.

By having your current intake ported, what are you looking to get out of this and you mentioned you're looking to swap out the cam in the future, you looking to go bigger or smaller? If smaller, I think that intake would hurt you more then do you good.

Are you a member of Drag Race Results or Yellowbullet? If so, I'd go to either one of those sites and post your question, but I have a feeling you'll get the same feedback
