dz engine identification
hello everyone, first timer here. i have an engine thas been siting in my shop that i pulled from a 69 gmc truck i came across (it was not factory) and just recently realized it had a v0925dz stamped into the front of the block! now my question is is it real or not? here are some of the other numbers on it: 3932386 is the casting number, then theres is what looks like 1188 on the right rear of the block. and there are some other various numbers on the block but no partial vin stamped by the dz number or around the oil filter for all i can see. the other thing is this engine has been gone through, new rods, pistons .030 over, roller tip rockers and a 350 crank. i just want to make sure if its real or not before i go messing with it or try to sell it.

i want to know if you can tell if its been restamped or not is what im kinda gettin at

is it a 4 bolt main block? all dz were 4 bolt mains

Either that's a real DZ block, or somebody did a nice job making a forgery. But then, why stick it in a truck if it was a phony?
That casting number was used for the 302, 327, and 350, 1969 only. So that letter that looks like "C" is an "O"? V=Flint engine plant. 09 25=Sept 25th assembly date. Can you show pics showing the numbers on the bellhousing area? What's strange though is the lack of a partial VIN. Even if the block was decked, all the numbers on the pad would have gotten shaved off. Make sure you're not overlooking anything near the oil filter boss. |

i have seen blocks get mismatched with parts all the time. so i really want to get his thing straightened out. ill get some more pics
