Which crank?
 

Is anyone running a 374 or 377 ci engine? I was thinking about building my block with either a 327 3.25 stroke crank or a stock 350 stroke crank which is a 3.5. Bored out to 4.125.
Any input on these setups?

Why not just do the 383 stroker kit which is basically a 400 crank in a 350 block? Very common set up that makes tons of torque.

I thought about that at first. I really don't think I need all that torque in a passenger car. A truck sure but not in a car.

True. I was thinking of going the other way. a 283 crank in my spare (early) 327 for a 302? It sure would be nice to spin up to 7500-8000 rpm from time to time.
I do like the 383 platform though. Although a 406 runs good too. So it just depends on what you're really looking for in your car.

I spent quite a bit of time behind the wheel of a '69 Z28 with the DZ302,I'd take the torque of a 383 over that 302 any day of the week and with a good balance job they will spin 7K making more power than a 302 at 7500-8000.

Torque is where it's at in a street car,there's nothing like just mashing the pedal and getting instant power.Beats the hell out of rev it up and dump the clutch. I'll take a torque motor over a high winder in a street car all day long and twice on sunday.

You're right I haven't.

I thought about a 283 crank bored out to 4 and an 1/8 to make it a 320ci or a 327 crank for 347ci. I guess I'll really have to think about what I want out of the car. I'm really going for almost a daily with some balls.

All the more reason to go 383 with a mild cam, it'll have good power on the low end and plenty on top and mid range with good manners
