Muncie transmission replacement recommendation
Long storey short but I just found out what I thought was a Muncie turned out to be a Saginaw. Upon further inspection found metal shavings in the oil. Now I'm looking to replace it with a Muncie. Thinking of putting in an M22 wide ratio due to the fact I have 3:08 gears and I thought it would be nice to have a lower 1st. gear. I see alot of companies selling them. Some are even new, not rebuilt. Just looking for advice as to what to look for? I don't want to purchase some Chinese made replica by mistake.

Well, found a 68 case and had all new internals by Auto Gears installed. Also went with the wide ratio. Anybody want a Saginaw?

Feeding my own thread here. Just installed the M22 today. Sounds great, nothing like the whine of an M22. Had to adjust my center console a bit but all seems to be well. If interested I got it from Midwest Muncie and they did a great job of building it quickly for me.

I took my Saginaw out found a guy that rebuilt Muncie brought one it's lots better lol but depending on how you going to drive a five speed would be nice

Yeah, an over drive gear would be nice but trying to keep close to the 60's roots. Coulda bought a 2014 for what I paid for my '68. Oh well, you can't take it with you.

I agree make sure you drive it and not let it sit in the garage lol
