67 327/275 hp with powerglide and 12 bolt

I have a 67 vert with the 327 and powerglide in it. The motor is bored 30 over and has a small cam. The car sound and revs great just doesn't have a lot of go from a stop. Thinking maybe rear gears would help a bit. Anyone running the powerglide and like it? 1st car I've owned with one. Would be interested in opinion and thoughts please!

Your power glide has a 1.8 to 1 first gear, A th350 has 2.6 to 1 first gear and a 700R4 has a 3 to 1 first gear. Swapping to a 700R4 is one of the single best upgrades you can make to a classic car. It will greatly improve launch and highway speeds and MPG.

If your car is matching number keep all your old parts so the car can be returned to stock based on future value.

Maybe go with a Turbo 350 and or 4 speed automatic. With 3.25 and 3.50 in back .Would would better.

Beautiful car, she deserves a better trans for sure.
We used to call those the slip and slide powerglide or 2 speed slush-o-matic. lol

Nice ride, indeed. Being an RS model, 3.08:1 ratio is installed, if another option box was not selected at time of new car order.
An easy replacement would be a THM350 with a 6 inch tailshaft and the only two extra items to buy would be a linkage bracket for the trans cable and a stud ball for carb lever to hook the cable to and adjust cable properly.
Unlock the casing lock at adapter, open carb to WOT, pull back on casing to remove slack, and push in lock.
Be sure to get maybe a 2000-2500 stall torque convertor for a little ore torque.
Enjoy the drive. You might have to change the front yoke to match spline count, maybe.
When installing trans, just before you lift up to bolt onto engine, hand tighten cooling lines to fittings, then install trans, and tighten in place Crowsfoot wrench helps.
You might get a can of cooler cleaner and clean cooler before install. Add a external cooler after the rad cooler - top line is return to trans.
You can never have too cool of oil.

Im thinking about getting a 2004r from Monster Transmissions. I have the option of 1800-2000 or 2300-2500 stall. The car currently has 3.07 gears and I plan to change to 3.73 Any thoughts on this upgrade? I like that it is supposed to be a simple swap without much modification.

That would be a great choice, you'll get more zoom and better gas mileage both.

I would avoid a 200R4 trans for this car. Lots of sheet metal hard parts inside, good for light use. With a 373 gear going in down the road, a 700R4 is a good choice. Lots of TH350 parts carry over into it. Also no extension housing on a 200R4.

I'm, looking for more a direct swap for the powerglide. Sounds like the 700r4 would be more work to get installed than the 2004r as it can use the same driveshaft and is same size as powerglide. I just want a fun cruiser/show car as down the road ill hopefully be able to get another car for a hot rod! The TH350 inst off the table either as it would be half the cost of the 2004r..

"Anyone running the powerglide and like it?" My son has a powerglide in his 66 Nova and loves it! It sets between a 565 big block with a Procharger and a Fab9 rear end. Go easy on the gas pedal with that 200R4.
