Default Shock replacement for air shocks

I currently have air shocks on a 68 Camaro that were installed at some point to accommodate larger rear tires. When I got the car I replaced the old mono leafs with 2” over Detroit leafs. I would like to get rid of the air shocks now that I don’t have a clearance issue. I think gas shocks would improve the handling and ride over the air shocks (am I right about that?). My concern is the length of the new gas shock.... if I am 2” over stock in ride height can I still use a shock that is recommended for my car, or will it extend it too much and damage it over time? Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks.... the bottom of my shock would not work with these, I don’t think. I am also throwing a huge amount of torque at the rear end. That being said, I will give summit a ring tomorrow. I appreciate the reply!

Your right, they would not work on the bottom of your shocks. That's because they're for the top of your shocks.

I would look at a good gas shock like Manroe ,KYB,Koni ,Carrea ,Just depends on exactly on what you to to do with the car ,And your pocket book.
