I don't have a 68 but on my 69, I have a 496, I added 2" drop spindles and like you, I didn't like how it looked, so I cut the front coil springs.
My suggestion is, if your springs are good, then reuse them but if they are old, buy new ones. Don't go crazy by cutting off a full link, cut a 1/4 of a link at a time. Let the car sit because it will settle down a little. I also bounced the car to make sure the coil ends are in the A arm notch correctly. By the time I was done, I cut 1-1/2 coil off. |
Why not look into coil-overs? I added QA1 coil-overs to my 68 and can adjust the height easily. I do not know how to calculate the drop spindles into the equation but calling QA1 might give you insight. I have old tired drooping leaf springs in the rear so I have work to do to get the rear correct.
Good Luck, it seems stance is an art, not a science. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/camarof...fe59144657.jpg |
