New project.
Hello. I'm new to the forum here. Ever since I was 10 years old ( I'm now 32) I've wanted a first gen camaro.
Well this weekend I'm picking up my first 1st Gen and a steal of a price. It's is a bit of a project but over all in pretty decent shape, but I've always like building cars. Anyways it is a 67. With a 327 auto. I've been doing research off an on for a few years . My first question is the 67 I'm getting has front end damage. I have always loved the 69 rs grill. I know the body lines change in the 69 model. SO, doespecially the 69 fenders line up with the 67 doors? Or did the whole body change? Next I'd like to bolt up a t56 6speed. And I'm thinking an ls1 . I've done my research on this so I pretty much know what has to be done herearly but any tips would be great. Other then that I'm just doing a nice clean resto mod . Thanks Ryan |

Welcome, RY,
Body lines do not match - fender line on '69 is on top of opening where '67 is below the top. You could get an aftermarket RS set-up as others say, work better than an OE system, DSE, I believe. Give Jody's Transmission a call as he has an excellent T56 adaption kit. |
Ok that's what I thought.
Ya. I was looking at the rs grill kits. That's probably the way I'll go. I'll check out Jody's. Thanks. I'll post some pics after I get the car on Sunday |
Other suggestions,
Start a logbook keeping track of any changes from OE design, part numbers, etc. You can never have enough pictures. Get an assembly manual, commonly referred as an AIM The above are for future reference as we get over 40, we tend to forget... Good luck |
Good idea. I'll probably be 40 when I'm done the project. Lol

Keep us posted, we love watching these beauties come together!
