Too bad they quit making the straight six, probably because they can run forever if not run out of oil. lol

I had one in a 1969 Convertible, ran great and like you said it would not die. Of course, I would have rather had a 375 HP/396, but no such luck. Still have the car and engine.

Straight 6 over a V6 for me. I've had my share of straight 6's in various brands but I have never owned a V6, and never will. This 67 vert that the OP bought is originally a V8 car, the 3rd digit in the vin is a 4.

If the car is coded as a Z28 for example on the Fisher Body firewall tag, then the car was supposed to have a 302 V8(Engine would be stamped on the block with the correct year code, IE; 1969 = DZ then serial #. Good luck with your project.

Just a FYI on the 67 (only) options are listed on the Cowl tag, The problem was the mid year big block kind of messed things up on the SS. The 4P could be a big block SS or a 350 SS. The heater core holes in the fire wall tell us that it was 350 SS.

68 and 69 do not have full option cowl tags.

I drove a 72 Camaro I6/power glide for 2 year as my daily and I owned a 68/3 on the tree short bed pickup. Nice low end torque but post 1995 3800 for the win, God I love that motor.

So what did yall scare off the OP? I will agree that this will be a lot of work but if its what the op wants then good luck and take you time doing the repairs right.

The term you want is numbers correct big block, "Number Matching" means the numbers on the engine and trans match the VIN number of the car.
