Ok so I found a 1967 convertible I will post the cowl tag it is pretty stripped but the parts are still local so I'm tracking them down. I will have more pics soon. The question is this , it has a 2L 3L with a 4P code on the cowl tag it has the factory AC box and factory disk braks with the metering valve on the passenger side it is a 12 bolt rear end with the traction bar, I'm getting close to finding the origanal motor and I know that will clear it up but now I think I read somewhere that that brake valve only came in big blocks. not in L30/M20 cars and shoes cars did not get the metering valve, And here is the kicker this car has a return fuel line. thanks for any insight transmission is a muncie and the right one

I'm sure you've read up over at Camaros.org in decoding and what Camaro would have been born with from GM.
Unfortunately, '67 engines did not have VIN stamped on pad nor by oil filter pad, so you'll need to ensure date code of engine precedes born date of Camaro.
Good luck in your research.
Return line may have been added by a previous owner in alleviating vapor lock with the heat of the engine, especially with today's recipe.

Hate to say this, but she's not an A/C equipped.
The rectangular hole is std heater as if A/C equipped, the the firewall would have a vertical hole, say 4X12 inches, on the left side.
You should start a Build Project thread and keep pictures yourself along with making a log of everything you buy and any modifications you do from OE design.
This log will be invaluable later in life.

You should be looking at a Dynacorn body. There is a easy 20k in metal work on that car. The area where the rockers meet the cowl and where the rocker meets the rear frame rail is the most important structural area. In those pics both those areas look like a compete redo. Most pros will not mess with those areas unless the build is on a body jig. I have seen convertible bodies a lot more whole then that sent to the scrap yard.

Reality is the only way that car is worth a real restoration is if its a Copo but even then it will be cheaper to pull the tags and slap them on a Dynacorn body. If you are good with metal you could do external comedic repairs and build or buy a tubular chassis.

 

That small diagonal oval hole next to the heater box hole on the firewall is for the heater core tubes on a small block car.

 

Good eye, The big block cars had the holes in the cover close to the fan. The small block had them in the fire wall.

Starting to look like a RS/SS L48/M20 car same as mine.

 

FYI: If you really want to know the specifics about your new projects drivetrain, you will need to locate the Protecto Plate, which was attached to the original Warranty Booklet. If that is gone, like most are, then the only info on drivetrain will be specific to Straight 6 or V8. If the car is coded as a Z28 for example on the Fisher Body firewall tag, then the car was supposed to have a 302 V8(Engine would be stamped on the block with the correct year code, IE; 1969 = DZ then serial #.
