69 Camaro build for my dad.
19 Attachment(s)
A month ago, my dad picked up a 69 camaro, body was real rough, the purchase included new reman quarter panels, and a 650 horse 408 small block under the hood.
From deciphering the build codes ive concluded this was a SS 350 car. lucky his boy is decent in body work, self tought on my 78 VW rabbit project. on to the pics. first a couple pics of my test dummy, the car i built to learn the "ropes" Attachment 37177 Attachment 37178 Now to the camaro, unfortunately i dont have much "before pics" but the floors were see through the quarters were gone from the body line at the tail lights down on the drivers and the passenger was made of spray foam and inches thick bondo Attachment 37179 Attachment 37180 Attachment 37181 Attachment 37182 We put in fill length floor pans firewall - leading edge of back seat. Attachment 37183 Attachment 37184 Attachment 37185 Attachment 37186 the floors are fully welded top and bottom then seam sealed then painted. then we stepped up to the quarter panels, it took some courage to cut the side of a 69 camaro out, never attempted quarters before. ZIP! http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...4/SANY0567.jpg Test fit after trimming Attachment 37187 looks good burn it the first thousand of two thousand spot welds Attachment 37188 Attachment 37189 Attachment 37190 then a little burnt of body work we decided to do an 8 point cage. Attachment 37191 shot a little primer to check the lines Attachment 37192 Attachment 37193 once the quarters are done then we move to the awesome trunk floor might do it custom, may order a new floor, a 16 gallon fuel cell will go here as well. Attachment 37194 and a shot of the valve train for good measure Attachment 37195 not bad for a first post eh! |

Thanks for all the kind words, all is true, tis a labor of love,
My dad and i built a 68 chevelle together when i was real young 10-12. the family fell on hard times and He sacrificed for the good of the family and sold it. hes had a couple heart attacks and severe back surgury. followed closely by my mother leaving him after all hes done for us. in the last few years, he got a settlement and this 69 popped up only about a month or so ago, so he bought it. me and my roomate, a couple 24 year old guys, have gotten busy and we actually shot the first coat of primer tonight! We are thinking of using the summit paint system, seems to have good reviews and is easy on the wallet, I just hope he doesnt have another heart attack the next time he sees it!:icon_doh: well have some more updates soon! |
Well I wish you the best of luck with your build for your dad.....and keep the pics coming.

Good work, good story, and sweet car! Looks like it is coming along well. Definitely keep us posted!
