67 Project with a edge of

so i copy and pasted these first few post from another forum, so i appogize that some of it probably wont make sense. or the dates are off or somethign to that effect... just gotta catch you guys up to current!

well this is my 1967 Camaro. Had it since i was 2 years old. my mom bought it for me waaay back then. she paid a guy to start restoring it when i was 5, faggot did the ****ty, cover up the rust with bondo job, painted it, charged her twice what he should have, and then packed up and left town with the job unfinished. and after spending thousands on buying all the brand new interior and misc parts like that, and then to not have it finished and go back to sitting, well that really discouraged her, and im suprised she has held onto it this long still. But right after that about a year later, the guy she was dating rebuilt the motor and transmission for her, and boy it sure is a nice motor. transmission, not so much. But pretty much the only hting done right on this car haha. but he never got to the body work before they split. so its sat for the last 14 years. But now its time for me to get it back on the street where it belongs and fix it right. Ive got 10 grand set aside for this... So.... Here it goes!

Started day one by buying a new battery, a gallon of gas, and a can of starting fluid (which i didnt even have to use) and fired her up. started quit easy actually and ran like a champ after it burned off all the cob webs and crap. topped up the oil, trans fluid, coolant, brake fluid, aired up the tires (surprised the held air), and drove it to the front of the house. and heres how it sat waiting to go to my shop.

Looks in good shape huh? to bad you cant see all the **** ups in the pictures that the crappy paint hides.

like this after i broke away all the bondo, where it has rusted clear threw the fender to day light.

or this (going to be a lot worse when all the bondo and chicken wire is gone)
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...a21cefa26a.jpg

the entire way around the back window is rusted out, im suprised the window is still holding in there.
http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...a2c8715481.jpg

this is how the other side looked before i broke all the bondo off. im sure this one has rusted clear threw too.

fenders are just beyond saveable.

Roof should be okay. its not rusted that bad yet. but ill probably replace it anyways.

RE: 67 Project with a edge of "Pro-Touring"

anyways, first thing was to fix the transmission leak. so took it to the shop and put it on the lift.
http://a191.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...19eced0236.jpg
pulled the nasty ol trans out.
http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...7d1af7eaa1.jpg
took this oportunity to do some prettying up :)

greasy crossmember..
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...33ad2bce4f.jpg
clean crossmember.
http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...c35b40cf79.jpg
painted/rust protected :)
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...26cfa5f5f2.jpg

Went threw the entire chassis/drive train. new bushings, greasy, alignment, fixed the brakes, got everything mechanically sound.
http://a377.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...b501942668.jpg

Then put new seals in the transmission threw out, and put it back in the car :)
http://a109.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...2e8cb5d4e4.jpg

this crappy camera phone pic makes this look much worse than it is. but either way its nothing pretty.
Motor is a 327 port/polish and bored out to a 350, modest internal upgrades. packs about 350 hp and runs about 8 mpg lmao. (thats sure gonna change a long ways down the road when i can LS1 swap it and pull 500 hp at 30 mpg =] on e85 of course.) ive got a bunch of engine dress up in storage too for when the car is finished so the motor wont look so crappy.
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...6b7cbdd47a.jpg

anyway all that has been going on over the last month or so. 3 weeks ago i orderd this LED tail light kit, but its on back order and still hasnt showed up..
http://a178.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...704bf655b9.jpg

anyways so today is actually the day the transmission was finished and installed so i brought it back home. and took it out by the lake for a test drive and to take the official "Before" Pictures.

This weekend im taking it to my friends shop where he does a lot of body work (so ill have all the tools i need, cuz i sure dont have them at the alignment shop lol) and ill start ordering the new body panels, and start cutting up the car and welding in the new metal!!
by the way did i mention i have to replace the entire floor too cuz its rusted so bad??
im looking at about $1500 bucks in new metal coming to me shortly...
today i insured it for 30 days and got a trip permit so i can drive it to the shop, because its about 15 miles out of town, and this car needs a good driving, plus its a pain in the *** to tow a trailer up that loong step *** hill.

So updates when i get em!

RE: 67 Project with a edge of "Pro-Touring"

k for a small update.
started on the LED tail lights. had to remove the rear bumper from the car, then remove the tail lights.
http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...0e63c36225.jpg
Removed the bezels from around the tail lights (they just got cleaned, after they dry i will hit them with the power ball and buff em up so they look new again)
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...55a695dda4.jpg
broken lenses, dryed out seals, not a good thing. So they all went in the trash. Ill order new ones soon. just gotta wait to see how much else im gonna order at the same time.
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...5ff54f29dc.jpg
Cleaned the housings, primed them, and then sprayed them with a white rust protectant.
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...92707eddc3.jpg
and when i get the new lenses and gaskets, all of this will be installed into the housings :)
http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...ab9a82749d.jpg

so ive got some other small stuff to order, like a new grant steering wheel, installation kit, some door lock parts, a new grill (mines cracked), all the lenes, and gaskets, and some new mirriors. its like 460 bucks total, so i just need to decide if i want to do that order all at once to combine the shipping, or hold off, and add that order to the $1000+ order i have to do soon with the body parts. so that will depend on when i finish the taillights.
But i played christmas today and dug out all the parts i could find from storage. So heres a few pics :)
New interior panels
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...eae2508f04.jpg
Fresh chrome. Head light surrounds, grill surround. and my broken grill.
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...0588ab0360.jpg

brand new Genuine GM door handles, window handles, sun visor mounts and dome light. along with new chrome and gold door arm rest, new seat side covers, and 18K Gold valve stem caps haha.
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...10af758b58.jpg

Fresh chromed grill lights, with brand new lenses and gaskets. new sun visors, new chrome hood latch kit, water neck, and brace bars. braided hose kit for some engine dress up :) and a huge gold Moroso Air filter
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...ff1a55cf6a.jpg

now i have another box of more new parts somewhere. i just cant find them because i know im missing my gold moroso vavle covers, and gold door locks, and some other interior parts. so i got another box to find. but theres some of the stuff. anyways more updates soon. body work should be starting around the 1st of november.

haha yeah, i had this posted on anotehr forum, so i just copy and pasted all my post to catch everything up todate super quick.

i will be doing everything my self, paint, body work, putting together. all that good stuff. state certified welder, so no problems there, my step dad and moms ex bf's have taught me just about everything, and ive helped them do just about everything, when it comes to having anything to do with cars.so i have all the experience i need for the most part.when it comes to cutting and refitting, well i know how to do it, ive just never truely done it yet on my own.theother normal bodywork is nothing, been doing that for a long time.Just never had to actually pretty much replaced the entire cars metal. So im looking forward to that!

This will also be my first entire full carpaint job, ive sprayed small things before, like a go kart ora front lip from a differentproject, and again know how to do it, just never done a full car on my own. so im excited for that part too.

the color scheme isnt my first choice, if i had the money to change it, i probably would. when my mom started this car it was to be a white with a nice gold pearl that really shinned when the sun hit it, and then all the gold accents like the interior and stuff. Im limited to about a 7 grand budget and by the time i spend 3k in wheels, 500 in paint, 1500 in body panels, 500 in other stuff i need, and who knows what else, im gonna be close to my budget im sure, so changing the interior is just out of the question, and the color i want is WAY exspensive, plus the interior wouldnt go with it.

So for now untill im out of college and making good money in my career, ill repaint and restore the carto my moms dreams, so her efforts and hard earned money dont go to waste and she can finally see her dream come true. But ill be doing a way better paint. She bought a napa paint all those years ago and well now days, it looks flat white. the gold is just gone. I will be using a house of kolor white base with a gold pearl mixture, and of course lots of clear and make that thing pop in the sun!

over all i think it will be a really pretty car when its done. but i cant wait for 10 years down the road when i get to take a grinder to the white and make this car how i truely want to see it.

anyways im starting the body work about the first of november. So updates will be coming soon! and of course, ill make sure i document everything! im good about taking pictures.

RE: 67 Project with a edge of "Pro-Touring"

yeah im pretty amazed, had countless offers on it over the years, people see it parked there out side and come beating on the door.

i went on a 2 week vacation from work about the time i brought it down to my shop to do the tranny. and this guy kept coming in and bugging my boss to sell it, and he kept saying i cant its not mine, talk to him when he gets back. So when i get back the guy comes in, ask me how much and i said you cant afford it. he was like 10k cash right now. and i laughed and was like try a million. guy got so pissed he cussed me out, stormed off and slammed the door on his way out, never came back again haha. people crack me up. but this car will never get sold, which is why im not taking any short cuts on replacing metal. i want it to last for the rest of my life. ill lose my house and live in this car before i sell it.

it will be a 200K car by the time im ready to die lol.
