New dash carrier 1969 Camaro
 

I need to replace my dash carrier in my 1969 Camaro. I have a Retro Sound radio to install, but someone had cut the radio opening to fit a CD player, and it is the orgianl and needs to be replaced, and the radio installed. I am having a local resto shop do it as they know what they are doing, and other place I should look other than Classic Industries. I will also get the Rosewood inserts for the headlight switch side and the radio side as that is what it has now, but the glove box side does not have it and is just painted. How many hours should it take to install the new dash. Thanks, Jerod

If you are talking about pulling the pad, pulling the carrier, unplugging everything, removing the plastic gauge shields, removing both gauges (and clock if there is one in the center), unplugging and removing the gauge illumination lights and turn signal indicator lights, wiper control, headlight switch.... excluding the radio, just changing out the Carrier, youre not talking about hours. I guess if you took your time and were extra careful and delicate with every little aspect maybe a couple hours but just swapping out the carrier is the easy part. now, removing and unwiring the old radio and installing the new one, depending on how many times its had how many different radios put in and taken out, wired and rewired and wired again over the last 43 years... this could take a several hours to do it right. I have yet to do it in a 69 Camaro but Ive installed my fair share of head units over the years and Id say no less than 2 or 3 if its a clean simple unit install with no amplifiers and subs to deal with. Id say all day if the existing wiring is a hack job. hope that helps, figured Id throw in my 2 cents since no one else has. good luck, post pics sometime... we love pics. :D

What your wanting to have done, to me is a long weekend project but if the restro buisness that is doing is familiar with Camaro's it shouldn't be a problem for them to knock it out, I'd say within two days "If" there are no problems.
