1968 Console removal
Ok, its got me. This is a 68 automatic, no gauges, wood panel up front
I'm trying to remove my console. I know there are screws in front of the console, but how do you get to them.
I do not want to force up trim plate, if its not needed, but I cannot find any other way to get to them.
please help me out of this one..

OK, I got this one...
For future reference, I'll update this thread.
When removing the console, keep in mind that this console will split in two peices. There are several small screws that will need to be removed, 1/4" hex. In the ashtray area, a couple in the console, one under the shift plate cover, and 2 upside down in nose of the console. Remove all these, and the two front mounting screws will be exposed.
Oh ya, persistance pays off,

Console can be removed in one large piece.
There are four fasteners bolting it to trans hump.
At front, remove two nuts under trans tunnel, see from driveshaft side.
Middle bolt is seen after removing shifter plate, from above, see bolt at rear of opening.
Rear bolt is seen from above after removing ashtray. Remove screw to remove ashtray.

Removing window & door handles, you will need thisd tool:
https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...p+removal+tool
Removing panels after removing screws and handles, pry the clips of the panels with this tool:
https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...p+removal+tool
You will need to remove the door sill plates as the rear panel and kick panels wrap around the edge.
Kick panels can be removed by removing the molding on door edge and the six screws at the vent.
Then pull the panel out and it will be difficult as you're pulling against weatherstripping clay between the body and panel.
Rear seat is relatively simple, push back on seat buitton about an inch and raise up on front of seat as this action unlocks seat from clip in floor. Then just roll up seat bottom clearing seat back.
Then you will see two lag screws at bottom of floor and remove them.
Lift up on seat back about an inch or so and pull away the back from the clips.
Now rear panels can come out using second tool after removing any hardware holding them in place.
Always take pictures, can't have enough, as these will be useful in assembly.
Do the seat belt inventory and layout for back seat.
Good luck.
