Default What does everyone think?

I couldn't find a good place to put a tach so I made one. My wife hates it what does everyone else think?

My wife thinks my car is dumb, so I tend not to listen to wifely advise with anything concerning cars!
Looks like a nice install, but it's in an inconvenient spot for quick viewing.

What's wrong with the old stand-by, steering column position? I used a low profile type, and it fits up there quite nicely. A conventional deep style tach won't clear the gauge cluster. Pardon the dash "clutter"!

Steering column position is nice, but most state safety inspections don't allow it unless the drvr can see the high beam indicator.

I mounted mine on the column and turned the tach with the shift rpm at 12 o:clock, so when needle was straight up, time to shift.

I tried the steering column position, but when I would tilt my wheel it would hit the dash. So, I mounted(with adhesive) mine on top of the dash directly below the rear view mirror.

You did an nice install, but I'm going to side with the others, I like the steering column mounted tach. I mounted a 5" monster tach and off set it on the column and mounted the water temp and oil pressure gauge along side of it.

I never used the speedometer and just used the rpm's to know what speed I was at.

Currently, my tach is mounted on the pillar post bar of my cage, using an Autometer tach mount and is right off to the side, but not far enough that I can't view it.

I can see if you have a tilt column that it would be a problem.

The only thing it could possibly block on a 69 is if you had a clock in the otherwise dead space. I presume then there's more that could get blocked in a 67/68? Even with tilt wheel, clearance wouldn't be an issue with the shallow style tach, unless you like to drive with the steering wheel lifted up to your chin.

And don't forget the classic hose clamp hold it on
