Default Torque Converter Cover Issue

I have a 69 with a 350 / TH350. Plastic torque converter cover is coming loose & rubbing on torque converter. Is it OK to remove & run until replacement arrives? Also, any tips to mount new cover to allow for adequate clearance? Thanks in advance.

You can run without. Ive had them missing for years. Just stay out of the tall grass and no rock crawling without it.

No cover should rub, you could get a metal one if you worried about it.

It also helps keep dirt and grime out of the seals. Is the cover broken? If the cover keeps coming loose it sounds like a bolt problem and not a cover problem.

Thanks for the info. The cover holes are worn so the cover does not sit in the exact position as designed. Also, 1 of the 4 mounting bolts broken off so there is play around that area. I'll look into the metal ones in the future.
