Default quote for installing a new headliner

For my 68 coupe, the headliner is loose and was not installed properly by the last owner. I got a quote for $1200, parts and labor, about $500 for parts and $650 for labor. Just want to see if anyone had it done also and compare the costs. Thanks.

Those prices sound ridiculously high to me...

Wow that's high. There's a shop in the small town of Weir, TX that gave me a quote of $150 for labor. Weir is outside of Austin so it probably doesn't do you any good, but there are deals out there. Keep looking.

A new headliner is right around $100, and a set of bows (if you need them) is $50. You're getting hosed. Where in the burbs are you, and what shop did you go to? I know a good upholstery shop, if you're not prepared to do the install yourself.

I am in Naperville. These are the parts listed:
- Headliner [ Black Bedford ] $96.99
- Covered Side Panels [ pair / blk. - bedford ] $49.99
- Rear Side Panel Hardware $7.99
- Hook [ pr ] $15.99
- Bow set $59.99
- Clip Set $56.99
- Headliner molding kit [ 6 pc ] $179.99

I had D&M Corvette in Downers Grove install front disc brakes while in storage. I just asked them about fixiing the headliner since it was loose by the rear windshield but no tear or damaged. I was told it needs to be replaced, and the labor would be $650, which I thought way high. Appreciate it if you can send over a good place you know.

Give Tri City Auto & Marine Canvas in Wauconda a call. 847-526-5225.
They do anything from custom interiors, standard interior, convertible tops, boat upholstery, etc.
You need to get a second opinion, as D&M just might be looking for work, and not all that was quoted is needed. Which I highly doubt unless everything you have is trashed.

Thanks. No, the headliner looks fine to me, just not tightly installed. I repeatedly asked them if really needs replacing.
