Price of 67 Camaro
Hello guys! I'm new to the forum and I wanted some input...
I just bought a 1967 Camaro about a week agoand thought I had paid a pretty good price compared with ads I found online, but after seeing some of the other posts I wonder if I actually overpaid.
It's a67 Camaro with an LT-1 and 6-speed trans. from a later model camaro. It was origionallya 6 cylinder. The interior is in good condition- the seats, door panels, andheadliner are new. Floor panels look good under the carpet.
It needs:
new front brakes
door locks
center console
gauges
wiper motor
battery
seat belts
dash pad
front bumper
The car has minor surface rust but no obvious damage. I plan on getting a decent paint job sometime soon.
I had to ship the car from NC to FL so I ended up spending about 15,000 for the car.
Do you think this is a reasonable price, or did I pay too much for a car in this condition?

Thank you!

Thanks! You're right, it is what I wanted.I guess it's not a bad price, maybe there are better deals out there but I should just be happy with it!
By the way, your car looks great. What color is your paint job? It looks like the color I was thinking of painting my car.

That is a beautiful car!I love the color...I am going to paint mine as soon as I sell my other car. I like that color on your's, it's really similar to my car's original paint... (I "really" want House of Kolors Candy Apple Red but that's gonna be expensive and I don't know if my husband will let me pay that much!) [

that looks to be worth about 12 grand... but i do like the paint and it looks pretty fresh.?.. i think you could have gotten alot better more original car for the 15 grand... the transmission is a plus tho...
It's a lot of work to make that conversion from stock engine to LT1. I'm going through the same process, but mine is an L98 from a '86 Vette. To pay someone to do that would cost a pretty penny, so you might be OK with the price. Besides, it's up to you about how you feel about the price... it's too late now anyway!
I think you car looks good and if the body is straight and it runs well, then enjoy it. I'm always happy with the price I pay for a car because I search for months before I buy. NEVER be impatient, whether it be that you're selling or buying. Wait until the opportune moment.
House of Color is expensive paint, but so are all the others! It's the cost of shooting it that matters. If you can't shoot it yourself, the money will go into labor. The Gold has to be laid down with perfection before the candy red can go on top. Finding a good painter for that kind of job is essential!
Just enjoy the car. The cost of the paint will be a minor expense compared to the labor.

Thanks for all the replies! I actually didn't get the opportunity to "really" search before buying the car... I did search for a while but when I was looking before I found cars that were 25-30K. (I always looked for them before online, but wasn't ready to buy.)
So it just so happened that when my husband and I went on vacation to NC, we saw this car for sale and I LOVED it and thought it was a good price, even with the work it needs because I had seen so many selling for much more. But I didn't realize the one's I had seen with that price were typically matching #'s cars, show quality. (You can only tell so much from a picture.) So in that aspect, I do feel I was a little impatient. But you are right, it's too late to wonder now! All in all, I am happy with my car.
I don't know what direction to go in with it now. I don't really understand what will/wont decrease the value of the car. I want an alarm, A/C, radio, new gauges (I saw a really nice electronic dash). But if I put those things in, do I have to go all original or does originality only matter on a matching #'s car? How would I find out~ should I talk to an appraiser or something before I get started on it?
I've been asking around about CandyApple, and I hear it's pretty hard to repair if anything were to happen to it and it fades quickly. So I may go with something more durable.
Thanks to you all for the good advice!
