Lightbulb Parking Brake Light Wire 1968 Camaro

Hi all, I need some help. I am trying to figure out where I can splice into the tan parking brake light wire. I have tried from the switch on the parking brake assembly but do not have any power whether I suppress the switch or not. I grabbed another switch, same result. The tan wire goes behind the fuse block, but I cannot find it from there. Do I need to pull the fuse block? I am trying to splice in a wire from the parking brake wire straight into a dakota gauge fuse box. Can anyone help me on this one? I appreciate it.

That wire goes directly into the back of the fuse block.

I'm unclear on what you're trying to do... Are you trying to tap into a 12V power source??

When I bought the car, it had Dakota gauges installed. However, none of the indicator lamps worked. There is a control box/relay that operates the indicator lamps. I have wired the blinkers, and dimmer switch. The only one that remains is the parking brake indicator. I am thinking if I know what wire lit the original parking brake light, I can splice into it straight to the control box, but not sure what wire that is. Does that make sense?

The tan wire provides a ground this triggers the light it also is how the Dakota digital would detect and show check brakes on the display.. I think if I remember correctly it took me awhile to figure out how the brake light trigger operated.. It is also the same wire off the proportioning valve. It is the check brake trigger from that...

I think you need to determine if the Dakota parking indicator illuminates by being grounded first. Simply take the lead from the Dakota gauge to ground, and see if it then lights up the warning lamp. If it does, then you can splice it to the stock parking brake wire, and it will function as it did originally. Or check your installation instructions to see if they mention grounding it to make it function.

The ground definitely makes the light go on. But cannot seem to get it to ground from the parking brake switch. I tried a new switch, still did not work.

Make sure when you press the parking brake a switch is located in such a manner that as the brake pedal is depressed it shorts out like a door pin switch. When you release the brake the pedal comes up and pushes on the tip of the switch and you open the connection.. The body of the switch should be grounded check to make sure it touches ground and its should show a short to ground with a volt meter on ohms...If you use a switch with two connections on it, you must ground one side and the other is the tan wire...
