Default no X code

I need some help guys. I have a 69 camaro with no X code. It seems to me I saw somewhere that if there was no X code the car was built before January of 69 my build date is 11C. Im assumming that that build date is November of 68 third week, butmy vin tag is the later style with the build date in the lower left corner. Vin ending in 548161. Its a Norwood built car.Any help will be appreciated.

you might be a little confused. I think the X code you are referring to is the X that refers to the option of the car on the trim tag?

My car is 11D and my vin is N5476**, Nov 68,noX code on small cowl tag,my car is a x44 [base car], says X4 in yellow crayon on rearseat-trunk divider.you can take out back seat, lookat the passenger side seat-trunk metal dividerright beforethe metal is bent horizontalfor the package tray and speakers , see if you could seeif the factory yellowcaryon markingsare still there,it will look kinda dark with dirt on it, try using flashlight to see it. over the years people change things so you will never know what you'll find. good luck

I am not sure I understand the question. You are trying to see what trim style your car is supposed to have? there are 2 tags with vin numbers on them. One is the cowl tag on the fire wall, the other is the vin tag, you see it through the window. these numbers are different as the build date of the car (body, no engine) and the assembly date of the car are different. The cowl tag date is for the body only, not the completed car. does this help?
