Nicky identification?

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to identify a Nicky 427 camaro?I found a 67 camaro that has a 427 4 speed. The owner says it is original. It looks to be unrestored but with a car this old who can tell. The only information I can find on a 67 with a 427 4 speed is a Nicky. Is there a way of telling if it is real.
Thanks

Thanks I had seen that site.I am pretty sure these cars wouldnt have a number in the vin that would identify them because there were made outside GM.How ever I was thinking that the 427 engine would have been a creat engine and might not have a vin number stamped on them. The car is probably nothing but I was told the engine was original and I just cant make myself believe that.

Where would the vin number be stamped on a 427 engine?

for matching to a car its on the front of the block on a little pad that sticks out right underneath the heads i cant remember what side though. it will never match the vin because 427 did not come in camaros from the factory in 67. that didnt happen untill very very late 68 and then 69 through the copo program. if it were a true nickey then is should have nickey badges(or holes for them) on it but more than likely you are looking at a 67 camaro that had a 427 put in it back in the day.

The number on the rear of the block can tell you if the engine was cast before 1967 but cannot be 100% because could have been used in 1968 or 1969. The engine VIN on the front right side of the block in front of the head will tell you what car the engine came out of unless it is a CE (counter exchange) block which would probably be the case if it is a real Nickey. See if you can get either one of these numbers and we can help.

you might want to also check the trim tag to make sure it is a v8 car to start because (i know yenko did this in 67 and 68, nickey probably did the same thing) they would order 396 camaros and when they were delivered they would yank the 396 out and sell it over the counter then stuff a crate 427 into the camaro then add the new badges and stickers or whatever they put on them to identifiy the conversion.
