Default Need help with identifying what this rear end is out of

I have a rear end with a number on the diff of 3894860NF, number on the axle tube is BT0507 and the number on the ring gear is 3862528 8 39 470. With these numbers I think I have a rear end out of a 68 or 69 Camaro that originally had 3:55 gears (now 4:88) and it is a posi. any way of finding out more about it and if I am correct. Thanks for any help you can offer.

You are right in what you have. axle tube is May 7th. Looking at the diff from the rear there are a set of numbers on the upper left portion of the diff housing that will give you the year. Should be something like "C 26 8" The letter corresponding to the month C=March, Of course 8 being 68 and 9 being 69.

Were there any special markings or codes for big block cars that you know of? Any idea what it's worth?

Thanks for the confirmation.

No markings for codes on rear ends as far as engines go. 12 bolts were put in some small block cars and all big block cars. 4.88 is not a real desirable gear. A 12 bolt with 3.55, 3.73, or 4.11 would probalbly go for anywhere from $1300-$1700 depending on condition. Your probably not too far from that given those rear ends are hard to find.
