Default Need advice asap!!! About trim tag fraud!!

Hey guys i just bought a 1974 camaro 350 lt that someone has made into a 350lt z28 clone. I bought the car to resale it because i got a really awesome deal on it and am trying to raise money for the car i really want. Ok here is the thing, before purchasing the car i ran the vin to see if it was an actual z28 and of course its not, because it has an h engine code. Well unfortunately i didnt pay any attention to the trim tag on the car! Yesterday i noticed that the idiot that was making this a clone was trying to make it a scam not a clone!!! Because he tried to take the tag off and scratch the z28 code in it! Well he didnt succeed so he banged it back out, but like a friggin idiot he put the tag back on with screws!!!! I know that on the 1st gens its a huge deal because the trim tag is the only way to tell a $100,000 car from a $10,000 car. But on the 2nd gens they arent like that cause you can tell if a car is an actual Z or not by the VIN. I am not trying to scam anyone obviously. Is it illegal if i just pop rivet the tag back on and sale the car like it is and let people know it is a clone? If i go to the tag agency and talk to them are they going to take my car and crush it because someone has tampered with the tag? Or what? Please get back to me as soon as possible thanks.

3rd gen camaro trim tags are held on with 6 point phillips screws, only if vin has been tampered with I think you'd have a problem . Just let future buyers know it's not a Z28. Trim tag only shows what options came with car , don't sweat it .

Isn't 74 well into the smog years? It might not have enough "collectibleness" to be an issue for you. I agree with mcmc, just be sure to disclose, as was disclosed to you.

The trim tag has nothing to do with the tag agency or DMV. They are only concerned with the VIN. I agree with mcmcmahon, dont sweat it.
