MY New Frame Off Yenko Clone is Here! Pics
Well Fellas.... I m officially a Member of the Club!!!! Just bought a complete frame off YENKO clone Resto.
I came home from the Hospital in a 69 Camaro and some of my fondest memories and the reason I love muscle Cars is the time spend in the passengers seat of my old mans 69 Camaro!
I grew up on muscle cars and it has been a dream to own an 69 for a long time! Well the time is now!!!!
Here she is:
I do have some questions you can help me out with! The car had rallys on it and the guy had bought a set of Torques Thrust D's that would make it more YENKO... And put them on right before it shipped... Only Problem is the tire size id 245/60/15 all around! And the Front rides a little low? Not sure if they used small block spring when restored or not???
But any how I need to Get new tires ASAP, Cant even really drive the car the fronts are too big... THe guy said put 225/60/15s up front and leave 245/60/15 in the rear? ANy Advice Opinions...Will this work.... Look Stupid....? But I need tires soon to get out and drive the car!!! But you can see the front tires that are on the car are just too big! I only drove the car home... And made wide turns if you get what i mean!!!

Very nice looking car! Looks like they probably left the small block front springs, maybe wanting a natural lower look that way?
The common tire size available in 69 was F70x14's. 26.45" diameter, tread width of about 7-7.5".
Your 245/60/15's are 26.6" in diameter, with a tread width of 8" and section width of 9.8".
It's not that the height is wrong, since the two are very close to each other. But the 15's being wider both in tread and section width, in addition to the front being lower is the problem.
I don't see anything wrong with staggering the front to back sizes and putting on smaller fronts. It's done all the time and it won't look dumb.
One thing that did stick out like a sore thumb...everything on the car looks clean and new, yet the insides of the hood springs are all rusty?

Should work fine,I put a 427 in the '69 I had way back in the '70's and left the small block springs in it.
I had bias G60 14''s front and monster L60 14"s rear with the old Gabrial Highjacker airshocks.
The car drove pretty fair, wasn't concerned with cornering too much back then, mostly a straight line car.
My '93 Z28 has 245's rear and 225's front right now,drives fine.

Raised whites are a vintage look. It works on an older car, not newer one.
When steering lock to lock while sitting, how tight do the front tires fit now? Do they barely drag, or is it by a lot? Body roll while cornering has to be considered too.
