Mini Starter Heat Shields
What product have you guys found that works/looks the best to help protect our starters from heat?

Ceramic Headers :icon_goofygrin:
I ended up wrapping my steel headers just to reduce the heat in the engine bay, but not everybody likes that look. Because I wrapped my headers, I didn't need a standard heat shield for my high torque starter, but the shields look kinda cool and is fairly simple to install. |
LOL, I said looks being considered. Form and functionality.

So, your saying you don't like the mummy effect :icon_nic: :icon_rant:
ha ha J/K I do have a friend that has a nice set of ceramic headers that look pretty nice, and work great. He doesn't have a heat shield on his starter and his starter is working fine for the past few years. Of course, the standard heat shield is a little less costly ;) |
thermatec has some good stuff. im using one of these after the first starter went to the happy starting grounds. also switced from tufstuf to powermasster
Thermo-Tec : Starter Heat Shield |
craby: how long have you had that? I have heard those kind of shields can also hold in heat.
|
3 or 4 months now, all though summer. there is a opening in the front that seems like it would let air though. first starter only lasted a month before problems started. stater still worked when i took it out a couple months later but i had to click it a bunch some times. i think the heat cooked the solonoid.

Ok, I think I may go with one of the hard aluminum one's with the material sandwiched between that repels heat. I live in Houston so heat is always an issue.
|
most of the time its the solenoid that goes just add a remote solenoid kit its avalible at summit.
