Looking for some guidance - 1967 SS

I am looking at a 1967 Camaro, 350, 4 speed convertible. The current owner (for 20+ years) claims the car is a true 350 RS SS. The cowl tag does have the correct codes on it for a RS SS (3L, 4P) but the original engine is long gone, I believe it has a 350 crate motor in it but I did not take the time to get any numbers off it. The rear axle is also an aftermarket with a right side traction bar and multi leaf springs installed. It appears most of the sheet metal has also been replaced, and done so in a very professional manner.

The tough question to answer ........ how can I authenticate the car?

As long as the trim tag hasn't been tampered with, it's a 350 SS/RS. I'd still want to check the engine codes so you know what engine it is.

Having the original Build Sheet(s), window sticker, and/or POP card - Proof Of Purchase - the metal warranty card given to the original buyer.

As your post reads, the important parts have been replaced with aftermarket - aka, engine and rear axle, so for the most part, the body would be authenticated.

Well by your own standard, the car is not original... So not original, not the motor or transaxle much of the sheet metal replaced.. Your short answer is, its a non original 1967 Camaro.. Was it if ever an SS or RS or both.. Its not original so your past the biggest hurdle and its up to you if what it is now has value and how much.. On the bright side since its not original changing or altering things now is easy..
