Looking at a 1967 that is supposedly a RS. How can I tell?

The motor and transmission are long gone but the body and interior are intact and appear to be in good shape. The hide away doors and grill are there but it is missing the motors and relays. The trim tag reads the following:

Cowl Tag reads: 03D E

ST 67-12437 NOR 94557 Body
TR 760-Z F-2 Paint

W2MG 3SL

I think I have most of it figured out but I am not sure that it tells me whether or not it is a true RS. Does the "3SL" signify that it is\was an RS car?

I have been looking at this site but just not sure. 1967 Camaro Trim Tag Information . Can someone help on this?

Thanks!

Thanks!!! Now the next question is, is it worth $5000 with no motor or transmission? The body looks good. No rot in the cowl or around the windows or a pillars. The interior is all there along with a bunch of new parts. It will need a new wiring harness and a trunk pan where someone put a fuel cell in it back in the 90's.. I don't really care about numbers matching anyway since I would pit a BB 4 speed back in it. I just don't want to over pay for the car.

Thanks!

Is $5k the asking price? Price is always negotiable. Good solid bodies aren't a dime a dozen, but it's hard to gauge without pictures. You'd really have to go over the body with a fine tooth comb, and a magnet too. Paint, even a bad paint job, can hide a lot of sins and bad surprises. More people than not have been "surprised" when restoring their car, once all the paint got stripped off.

He is asking $5900 for it but I was going to offer 5. The car has been glass bead blasted and sprayed with epoxy primer. It comes with 2 additional RS fenders and a couple of doors but they were gutted for when the car was used for drag racing. the doors on it now are solid and the DS fender is straight but the passenger side fender needs to be replaced with the spare. The rear end is now a 9" ford unit. Other than that it is all stock. No pwr brakes, all drums.

Doesn't sound all too bad. Does the seller have pictures of the body after it got stripped, and before it was primed? That's a real good time to take show & tell pics to prove how solid the body is, or isn't. If you're looking to get it for 5k, I'd hit him with an offer in the $4600 range. Offer 5k, and you'll probably end up at $5400-5500 once all the "compromising is done". With what he's asking, $5k should be easy to settle on, as long as you don't act anxious. Sellers probably hate me by the way! ;)

I have not seen pics of the car before or after it was bead blasted just what he has sent me. The car is 3 hours away from me so I have not seen it up close yet. I am hoping to head up there this weekend. I was going to make the offer before I went up there. $5k is my bottom line price so I did not want to waste his or my time. Maybe this isn't the way I should do it...

As a seller, I really resent it when people make me an offer sight-unseen, and I don't do that to a seller if I'm shopping. Mainly because without seeing the car, they have no clue what they're offering on. An offer from you will carry a lot more weight when you're waving cash under his nose. There's a lot to be said about doing deals face to face. You can ask "are you negotiable at all?", but that's as far as I take it on the phone or online.

you need to look the fenders over to make sure they are rs fenders because they have different brakets on the inside you can add the brakets though to make them work.
