Default How should the factory 4 speed tunnel look?

Anyone have documented 4 speed car that has seen the driveshaft tunnel? I looked at a car recently that had the tunnel cut with a torch. Thought that was a dead giveaway that the car was not originally a floor shift manual. However, I spoke to a guy that owns a documented GTO that was factory 4 speed and has the tunnel cut with a torch????

I would lean towards the GTO getting new floors at some time and they were recut.

Sometimes it's cut for an aftermarket shifter.

Mine is an original documented 4-speed that had more metal cut away from the floor on side of the hole closest to the driver. That was for a Hurst shifter before I got the car.

Is there nuts welded to the underside of the tunnel for machine screws?

I am not sure they were welded in, but there were holes drilled where a rivet nut or spread nut was installed. They are available from different sources, but this is what I'm referring to:

The rivet nut or whatever is on the far right and these slid down into the drilled hole.
