Help with stolen 69 conv.

Can someone tell me the best way to locate a stolen 69 camaro conv. on this forum without tipping off the now owner. This car hasn't been seen by the owner since 2005, he has the original title and protecto plate. I have the vin number but if the person that has the car now saw his car vin on here he'd never admit it. Thx

If you are asking how to track down a Vin without the polices help that is not really possible. If he registers the car and you report it stolen Police can track it down quickly but why would they register a stolen car. In many cases even with the polices help your chances of getting the car back are low.

The car will either be sent over seas, re-vined or parted out within 72 hours. With each fender worth north of $500 and almost ever square inch of the car sale able (assuming the car was not finished) or a 20K over seas payday unless it was taken by some kids its gone.

Here's the vin. for this 69 camaro 124679n621160. Does anyone know how I can trace this and possibly see if and who it's registered to.

That just it, with all the privacy laws that exist today only the police can trace a Vin. 20 years ago it was a few phone calls. Maybe it would be worth a call to a PI?

To register it the person would need a title.

If you are aware of a felony (car theft) and you don't report it there could be both legal and civil repercussion.

I have a source where you can do a VIN or license plate search, results give name and address. Only costs $25, and you get your money back if it's a no-hit. The new "owner" would have had to register the car under the original VIN, but some thieves are stupid that way. It's more likely though that the car got a different VIN plate, or was parted out. PM me if you want more info.

Answer from Burbridge Detective Agency
Unless you have active gps on the vehicle, recovering your vehicle could
nearly be impossible. Your car has either been dismantled for parts, or
since its a classic, more than likely its been stripped from all
identification numbers, and replaced with a vin from a similar year, make,
and model vehicle so that it can not be traced.
Usually, if you do not recover a vehicle within the first week its been
stolen, its gone. All you can hope for is that there were no modifications
to mask the vehicle, and someone later purchased the stolen vehicle, and
attempted to register it. In that case, the current title owner would be
notified of the recovery. And since the title owner is probably the
insurance company, you could only hope that the insurance company later
auctioned off the vehicle, which you can then locate by running the vin
through our license plate search. But then, if that was the case, you
would have no ownership rights on the vehicle, and your only option could
be to re-purchase the vehicle from the current owner if they are willing
to sell.

Need some help trying to locate stolen 69 Camaro pacecar.
