Heater core
 

I recently purchased a 1968 Camaro . I saw some liquid coming out from underneath. I presumed that it must be the heater core . how do I install a new one ? please help 🤔

Generally when a heater cores leak, it gets the front passenger floor wet. What kind of a liquid did you see, what color was it? Green is coolant, but if seeing it below the engine area, then it would be coming from the radiator, or from a hose, or a leaking engine block plug (also referred to as a freeze plug), or... Red liquid would be automatic transmission fluid, unless you have a manual. Clearish to dirty brown would be steering fluid. Golden to brown/black is oil.

Thank you for your response. It is leaking from under the box. It is radiator coolant.

They're kind of a PITA,I swapped mine out many years back with a big block core and engine side cover with a big block swap.
Not a bad idea even with a small block to do that because it moved the hoses away from the cylinder head.
I pulled the fender because I couldn't get the last nut off and was tired of fighting it,if you do it's not a bad idea to replace the blower while you're at it
since the fender had to come off for that operation.
Here's a video,it's 1st gen Firebird but exactly the same as a Camaro.

Is this a summer only car? If so, and if you don't need heat, you can loop the inlet and outlet heater hoses and totally bypass the heater core. I removed mine altogether, never will leak, never will cause extra unwanted interior heat in the summer.

You can swap/fix core.
Place a large sheet of plastic from under heater to trans tunnel to under pass seat AND over rocker panel.
Unbolt the five nuts on engine side.
Inside, pull heater down onto floor with core facing up. Some fiddling with core tubes will be needed.
Remove clip. take out core and fix the core. If beyond repair, get alum core and fill in space between core and clip so core does not rattle around.
Once new/fixed core in place, remove plastic to over rocker keeping coolant on plastic.
Get clay weatherstripping from hardware store for replacement sealing.
Good luck. rub petroleum jelly on hoses for easier slide on.
Enjoy adult beverage after job.
