Maggie, Great thread! Thanks for sharing! |
Raising the engine mounts only complicates collector clearance issues. Since the trans mount stays where it was this brings the front of the engine higher, but the engine sits at an angle. Anything behind the flywheel goes down as the front of the engine goes up, so the farther back your collector, the more it drops as the front of the engine goes up.
It's not a huge amount, but if you've already got issues, it adds to them. |
1971,
I hear ya. When I got my performance motor mounts, I also got a performance transmission mount. I don't recall exacty what it was cause it was so long ago, but I do remember having to cut part of the transmission support out along the edge. About a half inch if I remember right. Anyway, had to cut it off and then weld it back up so something would fit right... darn, can't remember why I had to do that... |

Now I feel better! Thought I was the only one that couldn't remember important car stuff! ;)
But now it all comes back to me! I have a fancy dancy deep aluminum transmission pan and it wouldn't clear the transmission thingy do-hickey :icon_wink: What in the world this has to do with header clearance I don't know :icon_hyper: |
