Has anyone installed a painless wiring kit?

I am looking at a 67 RS that has no wiring in it now. I have been looking at the painless kits instead of the OEM stuff because it has more connections for things like updated stereo's. Not to mention they seem to be a lot cheaper than the OEM kits. Does anyone have any experience installing these painless kits that they can share?

Thanks!

Yes, very simple if you can read a schematic and solder wire. You have to install all the electrical fittings.

I havent put one in yet but I have heard that they are Stupid Simple. Everything seems to be really labeled well from what I can tell.

Which wiring kit would you guys recommend? Would it depend on the type of camaro you have?

I installed a NW Autowire kit in one of my cars. Just like Painless, or EZ Wire, but much cheaper. All the relays, and wiring, plus spares marked as "Spare #1-#2", etc. If you're going from scratch, and going custom gauges, then almost any of the three makers will have a good kit. The NW Autowire universal kit was $70 less than EZ, and $125 less than Painless.
I used the 12 ckt., ($99) as I don't have a ton of accessories, but the 20 ckt would cover anything.

If it so simple why cant I get my charging circuits to work. I have 2 wires from the alternator to the regulater, one wire via the dash light, one wire from the Acc circuits on the ignition. I now have the regulater sitting on the fender with external wiring but still shows discharge on my ammeter when running. Please someone help.

My wife and I just finished the install on our 56 Chevy and found it to be extremely easy. We just took our time and followed the directions

No I havent contacted them yet. The kit was installed but the workshop, and they did not do a good job. I have had the altinater cheack and it ok, they say the regulator may be faulty, I will keep trying to sort it out so if anyone has any ideas I would be greatfull.

The only drawback to almost all these kits is the excess wiring they provide in the kits. No matter how you route it, you'll probably find they give you anywhere from 1'-2' more length once you get the wiring to it's component. The excess wiring can be a pain to deal with when it's under the dash, or at the lamp socket. It needs to either be trimmed off, soldered and heat shrunk, or coiled and hid. If it's just the end of the wire it's not a problem, but when it's a factory splice in the kit, or a plug, then the excess becomes the issue. The last kit I did had wiring for tailights that ran back and had a Y in the wiring to hit each light, plus license plate lamp. I ended up cutting it all at the single wire and then making it up new to get rid of the excess.
